Character's Note
What is Character's Note
The Character's Note is a tool that inserts text at the current conversation position as a prompt to customize AI responses. You can find it in the Advanced Settings (optional) during character creation. By configuring the Character's Note, you can enhance the output of the AI to suit your needs.
For instance, if you want a character to always reply with a single paragraph, you can move prompts from the character description to the Character's Note, which helps the AI adhere to instructions more effectively.

How to Use Character's Note
Common Use Cases
1. Reminding the AI of Response Formatting

[{char} must always include the full status bar in replies.]
[Use italics for {char}'s actions.]
2. Reinforcing Instructions
[When {user} gives an instruction, {char} evaluates the context and their own goals to decide whether to comply.]
3. Temporary World Info or Guidance for Non-Instruct Models
- [When interacting with {user}, ensure that {char}’s traits—greed, cunning, and thief identity—are balanced to avoid being overly negative, as this could repel {user}.]
- [Showcase {char}'s personality through details such as shining eyes when seeing treasure, a sly smile when scheming, or leaving a signature catchphrase after a successful heist.]
- [{char}'s greed, cunning, and thief traits are only part of their personality. Highlight their loyalty and vibrant spirit as well.]
🤔: What is the difference between a character prompt and a character description? Can I include the required reply format for the model in the character description or scene?
First, remember that the closer the insertion is to the bottom, the stronger its influence on the current conversation. As a creator, you surely want the AI to remember all the information you provide, but that’s unrealistic. Here are some suggestions:
Place more important and memorable information closer to the bottom.
Background details with less influence on the character’s actions can be placed in the character description.
Status bars and rules for status bars should be placed closer to the bottom. If your character forgets the status bar during the chat, try putting the rules in the character prompt.
The very end of the conversation has a significant impact on the model’s output, so placing information here helps the AI respond better.
